My Dear Neighbors & Friends:
On this Memorial Day, let us remember what this day truly means.
It is a day of reflection, when we remember and pay tribute to those who have served our country in uniform and who died protecting our freedom.
We mourn their loss, we commemorate their spirit and we offer our deepest sympathy and compassion to their families, friends and loved ones.
Memorial Day reminds us that it is through their service and sacrifice, along with all Veterans and current members of the U.S. military, that freedom rings out across our great country.
Our freedom is never free, many men and women across our country have given so much to protect the foundation of what our country stands for.
Rodney Frelinghuysen wrote: “Veterans are a symbol of what makes our nation great, and we must never forget all they have done to ensure our freedom.”
As we celebrate the 250th birthday of our great nation, let us never forget that our freedom was bought with a price. It is our duty and obligation as Americans to keep their memory of service to country alive in our community and hearts.
On behalf of your Council Members, their families, my family and myself, we wish you a special day as we remember those who have sacrificed.
