Cass County Sheriff, Clint Roach reports that his office assisted Ontwa Township Edwardsburg Police Department with a Personal Injury Crash that occurred on May 26th , 2026, at approximately 12:15am. The traffic crash occurred at the intersection of US12 and Eagle Lake Rd in Ontwa Township, Cass County Mi.
The investigation indicates that Cynthia Basil (50 YRO) of Granger Indiana, was south bound on Eagle Lake Rd and entered the intersection to cross US 12 without yielding the right of way to a west bound vehicle driven by Cassondra Gabriel (38 YRO) of Niles Michigan. Gabriel was unable to avoid colliding into the side of Basil’s Vehicle. Gabriel was transported to St. Joseph Medical Center by Edwardsburg Ambulance Service to be treated for possible injuries that were as a result of the traffic crash.
It appears that Alcohol may be a factor in the accident. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Ontwa / Edwardsburg Police Department, Edwardsburg Fire Department and Edwardsburg Ambulance Service. This crash remains under investigation at this time.
