SUMMARY: FLOCK Technology Proves Vital in Rapid Location of Suspect Vehicle and Arrest of Assault with a Deadly Weapon Suspect in Twentynine Palms

Twentynine Palms, CA - On Monday, May 25, 2026, at approximately 9:30 a.m., deputies from the Morongo Basin Sheriff’s Station responded to a violent domestic violence incident in the 5900 Block of Aztec Avenue in the City of Twentynine Palms.  The victim called 911 and reported his wife was repeatedly attempting to stab him with a sharp-edged weapon.

When deputies arrived, they learned the suspect, Lissette Frias, had fled the scene in a Toyota SUV. Before fleeing, Frias took the couple's 11-year-old daughter, creating an urgent and potentially dangerous situation involving both a violent wanted suspect and a child.

With the suspect’s direction of travel unknown and time being critical, deputies immediately utilized the FLOCK License Plate Reader application.  Within minutes, deputies were able to identify the suspect vehicle and its direction of travel through the Morongo Basin.

Using real-time vehicle alerts deputies rapidly coordinated a response, located the suspect vehicle, and safely conducted a traffic stop before the situation could escalate further or place the juvenile or members of the public at risk.  Frias was detained and ultimately arrested for violation of Penal Code 245(a)(1) – Assault with a Deadly Weapon.  She was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail.  The couple's juvenile daughter was safely released to the care of her father.

This incident underscores the critical importance of contemporary technology in safeguarding Morongo Basin communities.  Real-time vehicle detection capabilities allowed deputies to force multiply and quickly identify and locate a violent suspect who had taken a child.  The use of technology dramatically reduced the time the suspect remained at large and minimized the potential threat to the public and moreover, the juvenile.
