The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.  
 
MONDAY, MAY 18, 2026: 

3:56 AM Officer Kim investigated a window smash commercial burglary reported near Cedar Blvd and S. Magazine. There was no reported loss.

4:16 - 7:42 AM Officers investigated multiple window smash vehicle burglaries reported throughout the city. Reported losses included tools and jewelry left in vehicles.

1:34 PM Community Service Officer (CSO) Lau investigated a commercial burglary reported near Cedar Blvd and St. Isabel Ave.

6:48 PM Officer Stevenson responded to a vandalism report near Newark Blvd and Jarvis Ave.

7:26 PM Officer Medina investigated a retail theft reported near Newark Blvd and Jarvis Ave.

9:39 PM Officer Norvell investigated an assault reported on Newpark Mall Rd.

TUESDAY, MAY 19, 2026: 

7:43 AM Officer Jackman investigated a vehicle burglary reported near Cherry St and Dairy Ave.

10:36 AM Officer Felix investigated a domestic violence incident.

10:39 PM Officer Jackman investigated a vandalism to a vehicle reported near Brandywine St and Birkdale Dr.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 20, 2026: 

1:53 AM Officer Orozco conducted a traffic enforcement stop near Thornton Ave and Cedar Blvd. A 44-year-old female was arrested for an outstanding warrant. She was transported and booked into Santa Rita Jail.   

1:09 PM Officer Diaz-Perez responded to a report of criminal threats near Wells Ave and Elm St.

8:59 PM Officer Medina responded to the area of Mulberry St and Dairy Ave. for an identity theft report.

THURSDAY, MAY 21, 2026: 

9:03 AM Officer Shaffer conducted a pedestrian stop near Stevenson Blvd and Balentine Dr. A 48-year-old female was cited for possession of narcotics.

7:23 PM Officer Swadener investigated a shoplifting incident reported near Newark Blvd and Jarvis Ave.

7:53 PM Officer Swadener responded to another shoplifting incident reported near Newark Blvd and Jarvis Ave. A 36-year-old male was arrested and booked into Santa Rita Jail.  

FRIDAY, MAY 22, 2026: 

11:00 AM Officer Shaffer arrested a 43-year-old female in connection to a robbery. She was booked into Santa Rita Jail.

11:36 AM Officer Germano responded to a report of criminal threats near Thornton Ave and St. Edwards St. A 66-year-old male was arrested and booked into Santa Rita Jail.

SATURDAY, MAY 23, 2026: 

9:22 AM Officer Lor investigated a vehicle burglary reported near Byington and Marsten Dr. Reported losses included a cell phone charger and a fire extinguisher. 

11:07 AM Officer S. Torres investigated two vehicle burglaries reported near Milani Ave and Saint Mary St. Reported loss included 3 pairs of sunglasses.

1:27 PM Officer Taylor investigated a mail theft report that occurred overnight, near Buena Vista and Potrero Drives. Several mailboxes were pried open.

4:43 PM Officer Lor investigated a commercial burglary reported on Mowry Ave.  

SUNDAY, MAY 24, 2026: 

1:49 AM Officer Berlanga conducted a traffic enforcement stop near Thornton Ave and Willow St. A 27-year-old male was cited for driving on a suspended license.

12:07 PM Officer S. Torres investigated two retail thefts reported near Thornton Ave and Cedar Blvd.

3:24 PM Officers responded to a disturbance reported near Cedar and Newark Boulevards. A 49-year-old male was cited for brandishing a weapon.
