Advisory

July 4, 2026

The Simi Valley Police Department reminds residents that unlawful fireworks displays during the July 4th holiday period pose serious risks to community health and safety. To reduce injuries and property damage, residents are asked to comply with all local laws and ordinances prohibiting the possession and discharge of fireworks within the City. The Department will be aggressively enforcing fireworks laws in the days leading up to the holiday.
Each year, the 4th of July results in a significant increase in 9-1-1 call volume. Residents are asked to limit fireworks-related calls to the Communications Center and use the appropriate reporting channels:
• For injury or fire, call 9-1-1
• To report the exact location of active fireworks use, call the non-emergency line at (805) 583-6950
Callers should expect longer-than-normal wait times, especially on non-emergency lines, and are encouraged to use these numbers appropriately and remain patient with dispatchers.
Individuals with information about planned unlawful fireworks displays may report it by calling 805-583-6212 (recorded line) or emailing [email protected]. Reports may be made anonymously. Officers will review all tips, contact potential violators, provide education on fire hazards and legal consequences, and increase monitoring of reported areas with an emphasis on enforcement and prosecution. Please include the most precise location information possible when reporting.
The Simi Valley Police Department wishes everyone a safe and happy 4th of July.
