INCIDENT: PC 4573(A) - Bring a Controlled Substance into a Jail/Prison
LOCATION: 630 E. Rialto, San Bernardino
SUSPECT(S): Bryan Fazio, 38-year-old, Resident of Irvine
David Montrenes, 52-years-old, Resident of Lake Forest
VICTIM(S): State of California
SUMMARY: On Tuesday, May 26, 2026, investigators with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department conducted a search of a vehicle at the Central Detention Center in San Bernardino, California.
During the investigation, investigators contacted David Montrenes, who was seated inside a red Nissan Sentra parked in the employee parking lot. Deputies learned Montrenes had driven Bryan Fazio, a licensed attorney with the State of California, to the jail for an official attorney visit.
During a search of the vehicle and subsequent investigation, Montrenes was found in possession of a vape device containing cannabis, along with suspected narcotics. Montrenes was detained without incident.
While investigators were conducting the search, Fazio returned to the vehicle and was contacted by deputies. During the investigation, Fazio was found to be in possession of various suspected narcotics and a digital scale. He was subsequently detained.
Both Montrenes and Fazio were arrested for violation of Penal Code section 4573.5 – Bringing/Sending Drugs into a Jail or Prison, and booked at the Central Detention Center.
As a result of the investigation, search warrants were authored and served at their residences, where additional narcotics were located.
