Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., requests the public’s help identifying the suspect pictured here, who stole an electric bike from a residence on Monday, May 18, 2026.
The victim, at approximately 7:30 a.m., parked his black and red Ride Star e-bike on the side of his house on Norwood Street between South Orange Avenue and Abinger Place. Fifteen minutes later, when he returned, his bike was gone. On surveillance video, the suspect took the bike after exiting a gold Chevrolet Equinox driven by an unidentified male. The suspect and the male in the vehicle fled southbound on Norwood Street.
Director Miranda urges anyone with information on the suspect’s identity to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are confidential and could result in a reward.
