Meridian Police Respond to Disturbance Involving Armed Individual
 

MERIDIAN — On May 28, 2026, the Meridian Police Department responded to a report from family members regarding an individual who had made threats toward a family member before leaving the residence with a firearm in a vehicle.

Officers immediately began searching for the individual and contacted the family member's workplace as a precaution.

During the search, the Boise Police Department responded to a separate report of shots fired near the relatives work in the area of Barrister and N Allumbaugh St. Officers investigated the report; however, at this time, no evidence has been located to confirm that any shots were fired.

A short time later, Meridian Police officers located the vehicle. When officers attempted to make contact, the driver failed to stop and continued driving, leading to an investigation for eluding. The vehicle was eventually stopped, and officers communicated with the individual. Despite repeated commands, the individual refused to comply with officers' instructions. To safely take the individual into custody, officers deployed a Taser.

Ada County Paramedics responded to the scene, evaluated the individual, and transported him to a local hospital for further treatment and evaluation.

This case is active investigation and charges are pending.

As a precaution due to the proximity of the reported threat and the other active call, the Ada County Jail was placed into lockdown status.
We are thankful that no one was injured during today's incident and appreciate the assistance of all partner agencies involved in bringing the situation to a safe resolution.
