Free Health Screening, Friday, June 5
The American Preventive Screening & Education Association (APSEA) will be coming to Highland Park Community Center at 220 South 6th Ave to promote awareness of diabetes and hypertension, by offering screenings and educational resources from 9:00 to 11:00 am. Borough Council Meeting, Tuesdays, June 9 & June 23
The Mayor and Council hold their regularly scheduled meetings pursuant to the provisions of the New Jersey Open Public Meetings Act, N.J.S.A. 10:4-8(b). Meetings are held in person at Borough Hall, 221 South 5th Avenue, Highland Park, NJ at 7:00 pm. As a convenience, the Borough provides the public the option to attend meetings remotely through Zoom. The meeting agenda and support materials are posted in Borough Hall and on the Borough website at least 48 hours before the scheduled meeting. 

Caribbean Flag Raising, Tuesday, June 9
The Borough of Highland Park is honored to feature Adrian Mapp, Mayor of Plainfield, NJ,  as the keynote speaker for the Caribbean American Heritage Month flag raising on Tuesday June 9th. The event starts at 5:30 pm and will be held in the parking lot of the Highland Park Community Center (220 S. 6th Ave). The event will also feature remarks by Highland Park Mayor Elsie Foster (a native of Jamaica) and Highland Park Human Relations Commission Chair Pauline Devonish (a native of Barbados). Adrian O. Mapp is a dedicated public servant, a seasoned financial expert, and a progressive leader who has served as the Mayor of Plainfield, New Jersey, since 2014. Under his leadership, the city has undergone a remarkable transformation, emerging as a model of economic revitalization, fiscal responsibility, and social equity. 
 
Juneteenth Flag Raising, Wednesday, June 17
The Borough is honored to feature Bruce Morgan, President of the New Brunswick Area Branch of the NAACP, as the keynote speaker of our Juneteenth flag raising on Wednesday June 17th. The event starts at 5:30 pm and will be held in the parking lot of the Highland Park Community Center (220 S. 6th Ave). The event will also feature remarks by Highland Park Mayor Elsie Foster and Highland Park Human Relations Commission Chair Pauline Devonish. Mr. Morgan has received statewide and national attention for his work in the NAACP. He is also currently 1st Vice President of the New Jersey State Conference of NAACP as well as the Region II representative to the NAACP National Resolutions Committee. His work on the resolutions committee has a national impact on NAACP policy.

Pride Flag Raising, Tuesday, June 23
Please join the HP Human Relations Commission as they celebrate love, quality and inclusion for all with a Pride flag raising at 5:30 pm in the parking lot of the Highland Park Community Center, 220 South 6th Ave. All are welcome!

Community History Open Mic A Fireside Chat, Thursday, June 25
Please join the Highland Park Historical Commission at 6:30 pm at the Highland Park Public Library, 31 North 5th Avenue, for a Fireside Chat.  Come hear our special guests share their stories of the Highland Park Fire Department.  Speakers are Karl Marcik, HP Retired Firefighter, and Chief Norman Shamy, Highland Park Fire Department.  We also invite you to share your story at this event.  For more information, please email [email protected].

Save the Date!
Fireworks in the Park, Thursday, July 2
Residents are encouraged to attend the annual fireworks festival at Donaldson Park.  Festivities start at 6:00 pm with face painting, balloon artists, bounce house/slide/obstacle course for kids, gaming truck for all ages, music and plenty of food vendors.  Fireworks begin at 9:15 pm.  We hope to see you there!
 
Parkstock Outdoor Concert Series, Thursdays, July 16, 30 and August 13 & 27
Highland Park’s popular outdoor concert series is back on Thursday nights at Donaldson Park, Grove 1 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. Select food vendors will be on site.

Free Groceries from H.P. Gives a Hoot, Tuesdays, June 2, 9, 6, 23, 30 and Wednesdays June 3, 10, 17,24
Highland Park Gives a Hoot offers free groceries to Highland Park families in need of support. Distributions are every Tuesday & Wednesday (except holidays) from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the Zone 6/Teen Center, 600 Benner Street.
 
Highland Park Community Food Pantry Distribution, Thursdays, June 11, 25 and Saturdays June 13, 27
The Highland Park Community Food Pantry distribution takes place at the Highland Park Community Center, 220 South 6th Avenue on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month from 9:00 to 10:45 am and 6:00 to 7:00 pm and on the second and fourth Saturdays from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Highland Park Recreation Programs
Highland Park Recreation offers a variety of adult, youth and spring  programs. Families that qualify for free and reduced lunch are eligible for a 60% discount on all programs offered by the Borough. 
 
Farmers Market
The Highland Park Farmers Market coordinated by Main Street Highland Park brings fresh, local, homemade products from farmers and vendors across New Jersey.  The market is open every Friday from 11:00 to 4:00 pm in, March, November and December and until 5:00 pm from April through October.  Shop for farm fresh produce, baked goods, artisanal products, and more while supporting local businesses and enjoying a vibrant community atmosphere.
