Pend Oreille County Power Outage Update
 
Dear Pend Oreille County Residents,
 
Pend Oreille PUD continues to respond to widespread power outages across the county resulting from significant storm activity overnight.
 
At this time, all of our crews are working to restore service as quickly and safely as possible. The primary issue affecting restoration is a downed transmission line in the Blueslide area. That line has to be repaired before we can fully restore power to several other affected areas.  Because of that, we expect many outages in parts of the county to continue throughout the day. Restoration efforts will proceed as conditions allow, and crews remain focused on critical repairs first in order to safely re-energize affected areas.
 
Extended Outage Safety Tips:

• Avoid opening refrigerators and freezers more than necessary to preserve food
• If using a generator, operate it outdoors and away from windows or vents. Remember to never connect it directly to home wiring unless through a proper transfer switch to avoid dangerous backfeed.
• Keep cell phones and essential devices charged when possible
• Check on neighbors, especially elderly or vulnerable individuals
