Escondido, California – A man crossing the street at Ninth Avenue and Redwood Street was struck and killed Friday night by an eastbound vehicle which then fled the scene.
The crash occurred at 8:33 p.m. The pedestrian was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. His identity is being withheld until his family can be notified.
Police located a suspect vehicle abandoned a short distance away. Investigators are also exploring the possibility a second vehicle was involved in the crash.

Escondido, California – Un hombre que cruzaba la calle en la intersección de Ninth Avenue y Redwood Street fue atropellado mortalmente el viernes por la noche por un vehículo que se dirigía hacia el este y que, posteriormente, huyó del lugar de los hechos.
El accidente ocurrió a las 8:33 p. m. El peatón fue trasladado a un hospital de la zona, donde fue declarado fallecido. Su identidad se mantiene en reserva hasta que se pueda notificar a su familia.
La policía localizó un vehículo sospechoso abandonado a poca distancia del lugar. Los investigadores también están analizando la posibilidad de que un segundo vehículo haya estado involucrado en el accidente.
