CRIME SUMMARY:

Domestic Violence
On 5/6/26, Hillsborough Police Officers responded to a reported domestic violence incident and contacted the victim. Following an investigation, the suspect was arrested on multiple felony charges, and a Gun Violence Restraining Order was obtained.

CPS Cross Report
On 5/13/26, a Hillsborough school reported that two students were victimized when their faces were used to create Child Sex Abuse Material (CSAM) through an Artificial Intelligence application. The school conducted their own internal investigation and a forensic interview has been scheduled to obtain one of the victim’s statements. Multiple social media accounts containing the CSAM have been preserved for further investigation.

Fraud/Scam
On 5/28/265, a Hillsborough resident reported that they had been scammed out of $2.7 million dollars. The victim reported that in December, they had received a phone call stating that their bank account had been flagged by Interpol for fraudulent activity. Due to the fear of their accounts being frozen, the victim complied with the alleged Interpol investigator’s demands and transferred all of their retirement savings to multiple banks located in Vietnam. The victim realized they had been scammed when they were unable to contact the alleged Interpol Investigator. HPD Investigators are in the beginning stages of this complex international financial crimes investigation.
