5/31 – 12:57 a.m. – A Millstadt Officer conducted a traffic stop on after observing it commit a lane violation on West Washington Street. Upon investigating, he found the driver to be in possession of a controlled substance. The subject was arrested and taken to the St. Clair County Jail. On June 1st, upon submitting the report to the St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office, the defendant, Robert D. Backus, age 53 of Missouri (no permanent address given), was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance (less than 15 grams of a substance containing Cocaine); a Class 4 Criminal Felony.
