The City of Asbury Park is advising residents and visitors that NJ TRANSIT rail service will be impacted on the eight FIFA World Cup 2026 match days at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford this summer.
Travelers departing from Asbury Park and all stations in Newark and south will not experience disruptions at their local stations. All service impacts are concentrated at New York Penn Station and Secaucus Junction.
Match days are June 13, June 16, June 22, June 25, June 27, June 30, July 5, and July 19, 2026.
Beginning four hours before each match, access to NJ TRANSIT rail service at New York Penn Station and Secaucus Junction will be limited to FIFA match ticket holders only. Regular commuters traveling to or from New York during this window may use PATH train service, with their NJ TRANSIT rail ticket cross-honored at no additional cost, from 33rd Street and 6th Avenue (Herald Square) to Newark Penn Station or Hoboken Terminal.
For three hours after each match concludes, NJ TRANSIT rail service on the Northeast Corridor, North Jersey Coast, and Raritan Valley lines will terminate at Newark Penn Station. Customers with a valid rail ticket or pass with New York as an origin or destination can continue into New York City via PATH at no additional cost. Service from New York Penn Station will operate normally during this window.
There are no changes to service while matches are underway. Service outside of the four-hour pre-match and three-hour post-match windows will operate on regular schedules.
NJ TRANSIT strongly recommends that commuters avoid traveling on match days unless essential, work from home when possible, and plan ahead if travel is required.
