| Narrative: | |||||
| On June 1st, 2026, at approximately 1100 hours, patrol deputies from the Camarillo Police Station responded to a reported vehicle burglary in the 300 block of Arneill Road. Upon arrival, deputies confirmed that a felony vehicle burglary had occurred. The investigation revealed that the suspects, later identified as Ronnie Lewis and Danzil Earl, targeted a victim who had just left a local bank, a tactic commonly known as “bank jugging.” Camarillo detectives and patrol deputies quickly obtained the suspects’ vehicle description and broadcast it to neighboring law enforcement agencies. A sergeant from the Simi Valley Police Department located the suspect vehicle at a bank in Simi Valley, where Lewis and Earl were taken into custody. Camarillo Police Detectives responded and recovered evidence linking both suspects to the Camarillo crime. Detectives also determined that Lewis and Earl have extensive criminal histories involving similar offenses across multiple states. Lewis and Earl were arrested and booked at the Pre-Trial Detention Facility for PC 466 - possession of burglary tools, PC 459 - burglary, PC 182 - conspiracy, and CVC 4463 - felony false display of license plate. Both suspects are being held on $150,000 bail. The Camarillo Police Department and Ventura County Sheriff’s Office also aim to educate the public about the crime trend known as “Bank Jugging.” This term is used to describe a crime where suspects specifically target individuals who withdraw cash from a bank or ATM. The suspects often loiter near financial institutions, observe potential victims withdraw large sums of cash, and then follow them to steal the money; typically by breaking into their vehicles or confronting victims directly. The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office wants to remind the public on steps to take to reduce the chances of becoming a victim of this crime trend. How to Protect Yourself:
