El Cerrito Police Department crime blotter from May 17th to May 23rd

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito. It does not include all crimes. It also does not include non-criminal events such as missing persons, traffic collisions, non-criminal deaths, non-criminal disputes, nor many other police activities that do not result in arrest.

The following is a summary of criminal activity in El Cerrito from May 17th  to May 23rd.     
 
May 17th
Driving Under the Influence - Carlson Blvd/Central Ave:
At 2:00 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for Driving Under the Influence. The driver was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, issued a citation, and released to a sober friend.

Grand Theft – 800 block of bates Ave:
At 12:32 PM, an officer reports theft of an ebike.

May 18th
Criminal Threats – 11720 San Pablo Ave:
At 9:28 AM, the victim reports they were threatened by another individual causing them to be in fear for their safety.

Assault – 7022 Stockton Ave (7-eleven):
At 1:11 PM, the victim reports they were assaulted by a customer.

Petty Theft – 700 block of Bay Tree Ln:
At 1:50 PM, the victim reports the theft of several items.

Fraud – 11755 San Pablo Ave (Honda):
At 1:39 hrs, the victim reports an individual passed fraudulent paperwork to complete a purchase.

Criminal Threats/Brandishing/Vandalism – 9950 San Pablo Ave (Chase):
At 5:05 PM, Officers were dispatched to the business in response to a suspect waving a knife, threatening employees and breaking items inside of the establishment.  The suspect was contacted, placed under arrest, booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, and transported to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Stolen Vehicle – 10800 block of San Pablo Ave:
At 7:01 PM, the victim reported their vehicle was stolen.

Battery – 7200 block of Mound St:
At 8:02 PM, officers responded to a battery between two subjects.  Neither party wanted to pursue criminal charges.

May 19th
Grand Theft – 1000 El Cerrito Plaza (Lucky’s):
At 5:10 PM, the victim reports their property was stolen from in front of the establishment.
 
May 20th
Vehicle Burglary – 6100 block of Potrero Ave:
At 6:51 AM, the victim reports their vehicle was broken into and items were taken.

Warrant Arrest – S. 56th and Carlos Ave:
At 7:28 AM, Officers conducted a traffic enforcement stop and placed the driver under arrest for an outstanding warrant.  The driver was placed under arrest, transported to the El Cerrito Police Department, and issued a citation and released.

May 21st
Petty Theft – Cougar Field:
At 6:22 PM, the victim reported their bicycle stolen by an unknown suspect.

Shoplifting – 11555 San Pablo Ave:
At 8:38 PM, officers responded to a theft from the business.  The suspect fled prior to police arrival.

Driving Under the Influence – San Pablo Ave/Brighton Ave.
At 11:58 PM, officers conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver on suspicion of Driving Under the Influence.  The driver was later released on a citation to a sober friend.

May 22nd
Shoplift/Unlawful use of Tear Gas – 160 El Cerrito Plaza (See’s Candy):
At 5:32 PM, an officer reports two unidentified suspects attempted to purchase product from See’s, but their check was declined.  The suspects decided to take the product anyway and left toward CVS.  A passerby followed them toward CVS and took the See’s product back, then returned it to the store.  The suspects returned to See’s demanding the recovered stolen property be returned to them, but the employees refused.  The passerby started pushing the suspects out of the store, when one suspect pepper sprayed him.  Both suspects then fled toward CVS again.  The pepper spray victim left the scene prior to police arrival and was not identified.
 
May 23rd
Driving Under the Influence - Central Ave/Yosemite Ave:
At 12:07 AM, an officer conducted a traffic enforcement stop and arrested the driver for Driving Under the Influence. After the driver was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, they were issued a citation, and released to a sober friend.

Driving Under the Influence - Central Ave/Carlson Blvd:
At 12:17 AM, while officers were investigating the above incident they saw a collision occurr nearby. Officers contacted one of the drivers and determined they were under the influence and placed them under arrest. After the driver was booked at the El Cerrito Police Department, they were issued a citation, and released to a sober friend.
