Wilmington Police have arrested a man on drug and gun charges following an investigation.
Members of the Drug, Organized Crime, and Vice Division have been conducting an investigation into 22-year-old David Loper in reference to illegal drug sales in the 800 block of West 5th Street. On June 3rd at approximately 10:55 a.m., investigators along with Probation and Parole officers executed a search warrant in the 800 block of West 5th Street. Officers located Loper, who was taken into custody without incident. Police also recovered a loaded .9mm handgun, 44.5 grams of crack cocaine, 1.89 grams of heroin, 29 Suboxone Strips, 693 milliliters of Promethazine, 99 grams of marijuana, and $16,069.00 in U.S. currency.
Loper has been charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
- Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver- Tier 3
- Possession of a Controlled Substance- Tier 3
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited- Two Counts
- Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver- Two Counts
- Possession of a Controlled Substance- Tier 1
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
He was arraigned in the Justice of the Peace Court 11 and committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $162,100 cash-only bail.
