Travel Advisory for Hoboken Residents re: FIFA World Cup 2026; Big Match Block Party schedule released

The FIFA World Cup 2026 is coming to the region, with several matches scheduled at NYNJ Stadium (MetLife) and the first local match is scheduled for Saturday, June 13, at 6 p.m.

The City of Hoboken, and the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) are advising residents, commuters, and visitors to prepare for increased traffic and crowds on game days throughout the tournament.

In addition, Hoboken will welcome fans from around the world at several Big Match Block Parties, which will likely bring increased pedestrian activity, temporary street closures, and detours.

Residents who commute via public transportation should expect crowded conditions at Hoboken Terminal and on NJ TRANSIT trains and buses, PATH trains, NY Waterway ferries, and other forms of transportation, particularly on local match days and the days surrounding them. The City encourages residents to plan ahead, allow for extra travel time, and monitor service advisories and travel updates from transportation providers, some of which have implemented special schedules and travel restrictions during the tournament.

NJ Transit has launched a dedicated website for those navigating to and from the World Cup matches as well as those using their services for their regular commute on match days. For more information, go to https://njtworldcup.com/. Additional transit options to the stadium can be found at https://nynjfwc26.com/getting-to-nynj-stadium/.

Staying informed can help ensure a smoother commute while allowing residents and visitors alike to enjoy this historic event.
