| On May 17, 2026, at approximately 3:10 a.m., deputies from the Headquarters Station responded to a reported residential burglary in the 300 block of Silver Strand Road in the unincorporated area of Ventura County. The victim reported several high-value items had been stolen from the residence, including a high-end television and numerous personal belongings of significant sentimental value. Headquarters patrol deputies immediately canvassed the area and located surveillance footage capturing the suspect's actions. The footage showed an unknown male suspect entering and leaving the victim's property multiple times while carrying stolen property from the residence. Headquarters Station Detectives were assigned the case and immediately initiated a follow-up investigation. Through investigative efforts, detectives identified the suspect as Justin Hill, a resident of Santa Barbara. Detectives also identified a 2010 Audi associated with Hill that matched the description of a vehicle observed during the investigation. During the course of the investigation, detectives learned the Santa Barbara Police Department was conducting an unrelated criminal investigation involving Hill. Headquarters Detectives coordinated with the Santa Barbara Police Department and gathered additional information relevant to the case. Based on the evidence collected, detectives obtained search warrants for Hill, his residence, and his vehicle. On June 5, 2026, at approximately 8:45 a.m., Headquarters Detectives, assisted by the West County Special Enforcement Unit, located Hill driving the suspect vehicle in the 2000 block of State Street in the City of Santa Barbara. Detectives conducted a traffic stop pursuant to the search warrant and confirmed Hill was the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle. Hill was arrested for violation of Penal Code Section 459 / Burglary. Following Hill's arrest, Headquarters Detectives and members of the West County Special Enforcement Unit served a search warrant at his residence in Santa Barbara. During the search, detectives recovered several items that were stolen during the residential burglary. Hill was booked into the Ventura County Pre-Trial Detention Facility for burglary and is currently being held in lieu of $50,000 bail. |
