SUMMARY: On June 5, 2026, at approximately 11:00 a.m., deputies responded to the report of stolen landscaping tools in the city of Loma Linda.
The victim was performing landscaping work when a silver Honda Accord pulled alongside his truck and more than $1,200 worth of landscaping equipment was stolen. Surveillance footage captured the incident and showed a Hispanic male driving the Honda while a front-seat passenger exited the vehicle and removed the equipment.
Detectives from the San Bernadino Sheriff's Department Central Station assisted in the investigation and identified the owner of the Honda as Jesus Javier Perez. Details of the theft and the suspect vehicle were distributed to surrounding law enforcement agencies to aid in the investigation.
The Riverside County Sheriff's Department located the Honda and detained Perez and the passenger, David Sanchez-Vega. Detectives ultimately identified Perez and Sanchez-Vega as the suspects in the theft of the landscaping equipment.
Perez and Sanchez-Vega were booked into the Central Detention Center for Grand Theft and Conspiracy. Both are being held on a $30,000 bail and Sanchez-Vega was placed on hold for being on active CDC Parole.
