UPDATE - Operation Safe Summer Traffic Safety Initiative
UPDATE on South Brunswick Police Department Operation Safe Summer Traffic Safety Initiative. The high-visibility traffic enforcement initiative aimed at improving roadway safety is ongoing throughout Tuesday. As of 12 pm, officers stopped 135 motor vehicles. Every officer, detective, sergeant, lieutenant, and captain working today is dedicated to high-visibility enforcement.
Here are the enforcement efforts for the first half of the day -
- 135 motor vehicle stops
- 1 arrest
- Violations have included -
- Failure to obey traffic signal
- Using a cellphone while driving
- Speeding - 3 drivers have been over 80 mph in a 55mph zone
- Unregistered vehicles (multiple)
- Unlicensed drivers (one driver's license expired 5 years ago)
- Using the hard shoulder when not authorized
- Careless driving
Officers will continue their efforts all day.
