Press Release: 23 Pounds of Methamphetamine Seized; Two Arrested

SUBJECT:  23 Pounds of Methamphetamine Seized; Two Arrested
 
LOCATION: Fifth Avenue and Spring Street, Redwood City
 
DATE/TIME: June 9, 2026, Approximately 7:00 P.M.
 
On June 9, 2026, detectives from the Redwood City Police Department, with assistance from the San Mateo County Narcotics Task Force, Santa Clara County Specialized Enforcement Team and the Drug Enforcement Administration San Jose Regional Office, conducted an enforcement stop in the area of Fifth Avenue and Spring Street in Redwood City. The stop led to the seizure of approximately 20 pounds of methamphetamine. The occupants were identified as 52-year-old Redwood City resident Susano RomeroAguirre and 41-year-old Oakland resident Huber CarilloOrtiz.
 
During this incident an unrelated individual driving a white truck backed into a parked law enforcement vehicle and fled the scene. This individual drove eratically and was followed to the 700 block of Barron Ave. in Redwood City where he hid inside a mobile trailer. This subject was identified as 37 year old Redwood City resident Christian LunaMedina. He was ultimately cited and released for Vehicle Code 20002 – Hit and Run and Vehicle Code 23103 – Reckless Driving. Two other individuals were also cited and released for obstructing officers conducting this investigation.
 
Later that evening, detectives obtained and executed a search warrant at a residence in the 100 block of Broadway in Redwood City. The search resulted in the seizure of an additional 3 pounds of methamphetamine.
 
Both RomeroAguirre and CarilloOrtiz were booked into the San Mateo County Maguire Correctional Facility for violations of Health and Safety Code section 11378 - Possession of Methamphetamine for Sale; Health and Safety Code section 11379 - Transportation of Methamphetamine; and Penal Code section 182 - Conspiracy to Commit a Felony.
