Meridian Police Investigating Accidental Self-Inflicted Shooting
MERIDIAN— On June 9, 2026, at approximately 9:50 p.m., Meridian Police officers responded to reports of shots fired in the 3500 block of E. Fairview Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. Officers immediately secured the scene and the individual was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
Out of an abundance of caution, several individuals who were present at the scene were temporarily detained and interviewed as part of the initial investigation.
Based on the preliminary investigation, it has been determined the injury appears to be the result of an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound.
This remains an active investigation, and no additional information is available at this time.
