...The National Weather Service in Chicago IL has issued a Flood Watch for the following rivers in Illinois... Vermilion River at Pontiac affecting Livingston County. For the Vermilion River (Illinois Basin)...including Pontiac, Leonore...flooding is possible.

* WHAT...Flooding is possible.

* WHERE...Vermilion River from near Pontiac downstream to IL23 near Streator, including the Pontiac gauge.

* WHEN...Until this evening.

* IMPACTS...At 13.0 feet, Park Street is threatened in Pontiac. Low-lying sections of Chautauqua Park are inundated in Pontiac. At 14.0 feet, Widespread areas of Chatauqua Park are inundated in Pontiac.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 10:45 AM CDT Friday the stage was 13.9 feet. - Forecast...The river may crest near flood stage by early this afternoon. - Flood stage is 14.0 feet. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

* AFFECTED AREAS: LIVINGSTON

A Flood Watch means water levels above flood stage are possible, but not yet certain, based upon the latest forecasts. Persons along rivers and streams in the watch area should monitor the latest forecasts and be prepared to take action should flooding develop. These forecasts are based on observed precipitation as well as forecast precipitation 24 hours into the future. Changes to the rainfall forecast, or any additional rainfall after 24 hours, may cause changes to these river forecasts. Additional information is available at www.weather.gov. The next statement will be issued by this evening.
