The Village of Pelham Manor is committed to maintaining and managing our roadways in an effective and efficient manner, as safety is our top priority. This is realized through a well demonstrated history of public safety measures. Some of these measures include, meeting with residents and community members to directly hear and respond to their feedback, providing School Crossing Guards, providing painted marked crosswalks, having dedicated police enforcement personnel, adopting local laws, wholistically maintaining our roadways for pavement, markings, and signage, and balancing the needs of all roadway users.
Recently, the Village started our road safety campaign, Road Safety Starts With You. This campaign is geared toward raising public awareness around the importance of thinking safety and moving carefully on public roadways. Since it's inception in March 2026, the Village has featured various topics related to road safety in email blasts, flyers, and social media posts. We have also hosted a public outreach event that was conducted by the AAA Northeast Community Outreach Program, provided educational sessions in local schools, and have partnered with local business to help spread the road safety campaign.
To continue with our persistent commitment to safety, the Village decided to undertake a Village-Wide Professional Traffic Engineering Evaluation of Traffic and Roadway Data and Information, commonly referred to as our Village-Wide Roadway Evaluation.
This effort builds upon our previous efforts, including the 2024 Village-Wide Roadway and Traffic Assessment that was previously conducted. The purpose of this additional Village-Wide Roadway Evaluation is to supplement and enhance our efforts even further. Our ongoing dedication to public safety is a continuous effort. One of the main efforts of our current road safety campaign and Village-Wide Roadway Evaluation is to engage with everyone in our community.
