Fire hydrant testing and flushing in the Blanco, Pollard and Rio Grande neighborhood and surrounding streets.
City of Aztec Public Works crews will be testing and flushing fire hydrants in the Blanco, Pollard, and Rio Grande neighborhood and surrounding streets.
This routine maintenance helps ensure the reliability and performance of our water distribution system. During this work, you may notice temporary discoloration in your water. The water remains safe to use and continues to meet all EPA drinking water standards. The discoloration is caused by naturally occurring mineral deposits that may be stirred up inside the water lines during flushing.
If you experience discolored water, run cold water from a faucet for approximately 10 minutes. In most cases, this will clear the water. If the discoloration persists, please contact Aztec Public Works at 505-334-7660.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to maintain a safe and reliable water system.
