At 3:15 PM the fire department and the Oakley Police Department were dispatched to the 900 block of Rhine Way for an electric vehicle battery that caught on fire in the garage. many fire resources are onscene and the fire is largely under control.
Due to the fact fires involing the batteries of electric vehicles release dangerous materials the Oakley Police Department urges everyone to avoid the area if possible. If you cannot avoid the area try to remain upwind and keep the doors and windows to your home closed.
Rhine Way is closed between Bordeaux Drive and Zinfandel Drive. This event will take 2-3 hours to completely mitigate.
