Central Marin Police Investigating Residential Burglary and Assault with a Deadly Weapon

Case:                  PA26-00866
Date:                  June 15, 2026
Time:                  5:39 p.m.
Location:           Island Dr, San Anselmo

On June 15, 2026, at approximately 5:39 pm, Central Marin Police received a call of a residential burglary that just occurred on Island Dr in San Anselmo, near the San Rafael border.  The victim confronted a male suspect inside his residence and a physical altercation ensued.  The victim was struck with a handgun (no shots were fired) and the suspect was seen fleeing on foot eastbound on Island Dr.  The victim received medical attention for non-life-threatening injuries.

Arriving CMPA officers, as well as officers with the San Rafael Police Department, quickly established a perimeter in the surrounding neighborhood.  Due to the violent crime and the suspect believed to be armed with a firearm, a Shelter In Place order was issued for the area.  For safety of the officers and the affected residents in the area, an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (drone) as well as K9 officers from Novato and San Rafael Police Departments were deployed to assist in the search.

After an exhaustive search, and with evidence gathered at the scene, the Shelter in Place order was lifted at approximately 8:45pm.  The suspect was not located and it appears that he left the area in a vehicle as officers were initially arriving on scene.

CMPA Detectives responded and processed the scene, collecting additional evidence.  We are currently investigating various leads and evidence in an effort to identify the suspect.

The suspect was described as a white male adult in his 30s, medium build.  He was last seen wearing a black mask and black hooded sweatshirt during the crime.

CMPA would like to thank our partner law enforcement agencies in Novato and San Rafael for their assistance during this call.  We would also like to thank various witnesses who provided leads, as well as the residents affected by the Shelter in Place for their patience as the police officers and K9s conducted a thorough search of the neighborhood.
