The City of Rosemead Public Safety Department and the LASD, Temple Sheriff’s Station, are partnering to offer the Youth Academy
We are pleased to offer the Youth Academy for teens ages 12 to 17 through a partnership between the City of Rosemead Public Safety Department and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Temple Sheriff’s Station.
The six-week Youth Academy will be held on every Wednesday, beginning July 15 to August 19, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Temple Sheriff’s Station, 8838 Las Tunas Drive, Temple City, 91780.
The Youth Academy is designed to provide participants with an inside look at law enforcement and public safety operations while fostering positive relationships between youth and law enforcement professionals. Participants will learn about topics such as, Overview of Law Enforcement, Gang Awareness, Substance Awareness, K-9/SWAT demonstration, Mental Evaluation Team, introduction of the LASD Explorer Program and a tour of the Temple Sheriff’s Station - Dispatch, Detective and the Jail. Participants ages 16-17 years old may also choose to complete a four-hour ride-along with a Deputy Sheriff, with parental or guardian approval.
“This academy provides youth with a valuable opportunity to engage with deputies and public safety professionals in a positive, educational environment," said Rosemead Chief of Police Kevin Tiwari. "We look forward to inspiring and empowering the next generation of community leaders."
Space is limited, and interested participants are encouraged to apply. Applications accepted for participants that reside in the cities served by Temple Sheriff’s Station – City of Rosemead, City of Temple City, City of Duarte, City of South El Monte, and City of Bradbury.
