As we prepare for the Juneteenth holiday on Friday, June 19, the Oakland Police Department (OPD) will work in partnership with all city departments to support public safety efforts around Lake Merritt.
There will be an increased police presence around the lake. Officers are prepared to issue citations and make arrests when necessary to maintain a safe, family-friendly atmosphere for everyone. OPD's Alcoholic Beverage Action Team (ABAT) will also be on site at the lake on Friday to address illegal vending.
Residents and businesses near Lake Merritt should expect traffic and parking restrictions throughout Friday. Please plan for possible delays and limited vehicle access due to multiple road closures. Pedestrian access will remain open.
