Advisory

Morris Street/Morris Avenue Paving Project 6/22-6/26

Traffic Advisory – Morris Street/Morris Avenue Paving Project

The Town of Morristown would like to advise residents and motorists of upcoming roadway improvement work on Morris Street/Morris Avenue scheduled from June 22 through June 26.

June 22–24: Manhole Adjustments and Repairs

Tilcon will perform manhole repairs and adjustments in preparation for paving. Work will occur during daytime hours, approximately 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day. Traffic will be maintained through the work zone, and only minimal disruptions are anticipated.

June 25: Roadway Milling (Overnight Operations)

The roadway will be milled during overnight hours from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Conducting this work at night will significantly reduce traffic impacts, allow the milling operation to be completed in a single night, and prevent residents on the numerous dead-end roadways within the project area from experiencing significant daytime access restrictions.

June 26: Roadway Paving (Overnight Operations)

Paving operations will take place overnight from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Night paving is preferred because traffic volumes are substantially lower, and newly installed asphalt requires time to cool before vehicles can safely travel on it. Cooler nighttime temperatures help expedite this process and improve access for residents.

Traffic Control and Public Safety

The Morristown Bureau of Police will assign officers throughout the project to assist with traffic control and ensure the safe movement of vehicles and pedestrians through the work area. Motorists are encouraged to exercise caution, remain alert for temporary road closures, follow all posted detours and directions from traffic control personnel, and allow additional travel time when traveling through the project area.

The Town appreciates the public's patience and cooperation as these improvements are completed. This paving project represents an important investment in Morristown's infrastructure and will enhance roadway conditions for residents, businesses, and visitors alike.
