The Borough of Collingswood and the Collingswood Public School District have announced a 10-year shared service agreement. The partnership includes a Borough-funded construction project to build new athletic fields on School District property, using up to $10.5 million in previously bonded funds.
In exchange, the Borough may use school facilities — including athletic fields, playgrounds, auditoriums, classrooms, and parking — during non-school hours.
Starting Tuesday, June 23, school playgrounds and track facilities will be open to the public:
- After school hours and after-school activities, until dusk
- Weekends, school holidays, and days when school is not in session: 7:00 a.m. until dusk
The agreement also provides dedicated space for the Borough's Odyssey of the Mind teams, expanded venue access for local theatre and performing arts, and priority facility access for the annual 4th of July celebration.
The Collingswood Commissioners approved the agreement at their working meeting on Wednesday, June 17. The Collingswood Board of Education is expected to vote on final approval at its meeting on Monday, June 22.
