Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., announces that the following streets will be closed during the hours below due to the City of Newark’s Drive Up and Go Food Distribution event:
Beginning from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. – Wednesday, June 24, 2026
• Mt. Vernon Pl. between Kerrigan Blvd. and Sanford Ave.
• Ellery Ave. between Ivy St. and Fleetwood Pl.
Netherwood Pl. between Sanford Ave. and Ellery Ave.
The food drive begins at 10 a.m. and will be held at Mt. Vernon Pl. and Ellery Ave.
Drivers are advised to anticipate delays and plan alternate routes.
Director Miranda thanks you in advance for your patience and cooperation during this event. He also urges anyone with information regarding criminal activities to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
