Red Flag Warning until 12:00PM Saturday
...RED FLAG WARNING FOR LIGHTNING... .An upper trough from the Pacific is forecast to move into southeast Oregon beginning Friday afternoon, then across southwest Idaho Friday night into Saturday. The trough will bring a 30 to 60 percent chance of thunderstorms with potential for new fire starts due to lightning. Initial storms may be dry with strong gusty outflow winds, especially in southeast Oregon, but storms overnight through Saturday will gradually trend wetter as they spread into Idaho. The National Weather Service in Boise has issued a Red Flag Warning for lightning, which is in effect from 6 PM Friday to noon MDT Saturday. The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect.
* AFFECTED AREA...In Idaho, Fire Weather Zones 423 Owyhee Mountains and 426 Southern Highlands.
* TIMING...From 6 PM Friday to noon MDT Saturday.
* THUNDERSTORMS...Scattered coverage with abundant lightning.
* OUTFLOW WINDS...Gusty erratic winds up to 45 mph.
* IMPACTS...Any fire that develops will catch and spread quickly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
