DETAILS: ***Update, June 18, 2026- Jeremiah Hunter, age 18, was arrested and charged with Tampering with Evidence. He was booked into the Potter County Jail.

On Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at 8pm, Amarillo Police officers responded to the 5900 block of Plum Creek on a report of shots fired.
The preliminary investigation revealed that two individuals involved in a gang-related dispute became involved in an argument that escalated when the two individuals began shooting, striking each other and 4 others who were in the immediate vicinity. All six individuals were transported to area hospitals for treatment of their injuries.
In addition to APD officers, personnel from the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Potter County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene. The suspect was apprehended by DPS while leaving the area.
APD Detectives, including Violent Crimes and Homicide, CSI, ARCC and the Gang Unit are investigating the incident. The investigation remains ongoing, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
