Ventura County Sheriff’s Office personnel in conjunction with California Highway Patrol personnel responded to a call of a man with a gun and ultimately made an arrest.
On June 17, 2026, at approximately 3:42 p.m., Thousand Oaks Patrol Deputies responded to a call for service of a male subject who entered a multi-story office building while armed with several firearms. Several community members called Sheriff’s Dispatch advising they had seen the subject enter an elevator within the building and go to an unknown floor.
Thousand Oaks Patrol deputies quickly responded to the location and secured the building, blocking it off to the public while law enforcement conducted an extensive search for the suspect. A VCAlert, out of an abundance of caution, was disseminated to the surrounding area for the public to shelter in place for safety during the search. Sheriff’s Investigators identified (A) Tyler Robb and determined he was conducting personal business inside the building. Investigators also determined that Robb was carrying a single handgun in a shoulder holster and he did not brandish it at any time. Robb was not working in a security guard capacity and is not law enforcement.
Deputies located Robb near the Oaks Mall in Thousand Oaks. A search of Robb and his vehicle yielded a loaded semi-automatic handgun, several loaded magazines and narcotic paraphernalia. Robb was arrested without incident for PC 25850(a) – Carrying a loaded firearm in public, VC 23152(f) – Driving while under the influence of a controlled substance, HS 11550(e) – Under the influence of a controlled substance while in possession of a firearm, HS 11364(a) – Possession of drug paraphernalia. Robb was booked into the Pre-Trial Detention Facility where his bail was set at $150,000.
