Rialto, Calif. – Rialto Police Department will hold a DUI Driver’s License Checkpoint in the northwest portion of the city of Rialto on June 20th, 2026 from 6:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. Checkpoint locations are chosen based on a history of DUI collisions and arrests. The primary purpose of checkpoints is not to make arrests but to promote public safety by deterring drivers from driving impaired.
During the checkpoint, officers will check for signs of alcohol and/or drug impairment to help ensure the safety of everyone traveling through the community. The Rialto Police Department remains committed to proactive enforcement efforts aimed at reducing impaired driving and preventing avoidable tragedies on our roadways. “Every impaired driving arrest represents a potential tragedy prevented,” said Chief Mark P. Kling. “Our goal is not to make arrests it is to save lives. We remain committed to educating the public, removing impaired drivers from our roadways, and doing everything we can to ensure everyone gets home safely.”
Rialto Police Department reminds the public that impaired driving is not just from alcohol. Some prescription medications and over-the-counter drugs may interfere with driving. While medicinal and recreational marijuana are legal, driving under the influence of marijuana is illegal.
If you plan on drinking or taking medications that may impact your ability to drive safely, stay home. Drivers charged with a first-time DUI face an average of $13,500 in fines and penalties, as well as a suspended driver’s license.
Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the Cannabis Tax Fund Grant Program. The Cannabis Tax Fund Grant Program marks an important step toward reducing impaired driving crashes, increasing public awareness surrounding the dangers of impaired driving, and making California’s roadways a safer place to travel.
