* WHAT...Temperatures up to the low 80s.
* WHERE...Annette Island, City of Hyder, Haines Borough and Klukwan, Ketchikan Gateway Borough, and Prince of Wales Island.
* WHEN...Until 8 PM AKDT Sunday.
* IMPACTS...Individuals not accustomed to these unusually hot temperatures for this region may experience heat related illnesses.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The hottest temperatures will be during the late afternoon hours and located in areas away from sea breeze influences.
* AFFECTED AREAS: HAINES BOROUGH AND KLUKWAN ... PRINCE OF WALES ISLAND ... KETCHIKAN GATEWAY BOROUGH ... CITY OF HYDER ... ANNETTE ISLAND
Instructions:
Drink plenty of fluids, and check up on elderly and vulnerable relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear sunscreen and light loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles under any circumstances as vehicle interiors can reach extreme temperatures in as little as 10 minutes. Locations next to the ocean or glaciers will be cooler with a stronger breeze in the afternoon.
