The National Weather Service in Fairbanks has issued a Red Flag Warning for lightning, which is in effect from 10 AM to 10 PM AKDT Monday.

* AFFECTED AREA...North Slopes of the Western Alaska Range and Upper Kuskokwim Valley.

* TIMING...Through 10 PM AKDT Sunday evening and between 10 AM and 10 PM AKDT Monday.

* THUNDERSTORM COVERAGE INDEX...Scattered.

* WINDS...Northwest 5 to 10 mph. Near thunderstorms, gusts could reach as high as 30 mph.

* IMPACTS...Critical fire weather conditions are expected due to a scattered wet thunderstorms across the interior. These storms will bring frequent lightning strikes and gusty winds that are expected to cause new fire ignitions. We plan to update this product by 10 PM AKDT or when lightning diminishes this evening.

* AFFECTED AREAS: NORTH SLOPES OF THE WESTERN ALASKA RANGE ... UPPER KUSKOKWIM VALLEY
