CRIME PREVENTION TIPS – AVOID CAR THEFT
All car break-ins typically share one common factor: something inside the vehicle is appealing to thieves.

The following measures can help prevent your vehicle from being stolen.

Secure Your Vehicle – This is as straightforward as it seems, yet you might be surprised by how much is taken from cars with unlocked doors. Naturally, locked doors are ineffective if you leave the windows open, so make sure to roll them up.

Take ALL Valuables Out of Your Vehicle – If you must leave items in the car, ensure they are hidden and stored in the trunk. Always bring personal belongings into your home when you park for the night. Never leave anything in plain sight in your car, especially cash, jewelry, or electronics like cell phones or laptops.

Always Park Your Vehicles in Well-Lit, Safe Areas – Whenever possible, choose to park under streetlights, near building entrances, or in parking lots with cameras. Steer clear of dark corners or secluded areas, even if they are closer to the entrance. If you're parking at home, consider installing motion-activated lights or security cameras aimed at your driveway.

Remain Vigilant – Ultimately, being aware of your surroundings is your best protection against car break-ins. Always be vigilant when parking, particularly in areas you don’t know well. Listen to your gut feeling, and if anything seems suspicious, relocate to a safer spot. Lastly, please lock your vehicles. There has been an uptick in recent thefts of unlocked vehicles. I understand we all get busy, but take a moment at the beginning, middle, and end of your day to lock your vehicle.
