The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community. 
 
MONDAY, JUNE 15, 2026:
 
5:55 AM Officer Kim investigated an attempted vehicle theft reported on Joaquin Murieta Ave. The vehicle’s sunroof and windows were discovered shattered.
 
1:43 PM Officer Jackman investigated a vehicle burglary reported near Ruschin Dr & Lafayette Ave. There was no reported loss.
 
1:46 PM Officer Lomeli responded to a suspicious person reported near Edgewater Dr & Farnham Dr, where an individual climbed the roof of a residential property.
 
4:46 PM Officer Lor investigated a mail theft that resulted in a check forgery reported near Newark Blvd & Bellhaven Ave.
 
10:14 PM Officer Felix investigated a window smash vehicle burglary on Newpark Mall Road. No loss was reported.
 
TUESDAY, JUNE 16, 2026:
 
12:42 AM Officer Diaz-Perez arrested a 28-year-old male for driving while intoxicated near Cedar Blvd & Thornton Ave. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
1:14 PM Community Service Officer (CSO) Mora responded to a suspicious vehicle reported near Clark Ave & Cherry St. The vehicle was determined to be stolen and was recovered.
 
7:22 PM Officer Felix investigated a catalytic converter theft reported on Newpark Mall Road.
 
11:42 PM Officer Felix investigated a residential burglary reported near Cedar Blvd & Joaquin Murieta Ave. A 35-year-old male was identified through the investigation and was arrested for burglary. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 17, 2026:
 
7:18 AM Officer Johnson conducted a security check near Mowry Ave & Cedar Blvd and noticed a business had been vandalized.
 
10:58 AM Officer Johnson conducted a traffic stop near Stevenson Blvd & Cedar Blvd. The vehicle was determined to have a stolen license plate and false registration. The driver, a 25-year-old male, was cited, and the license plate was recovered.
 
12:21 PM Vehicle Abatement Officer (VAO) Reyes responded to a parking violation reported near Locust St & Wells Ave. The parked vehicle was determined to be stolen and was recovered.
 
5:01 PM Officer Johnson conducted a traffic stop near Cedar Blvd & Port Sailwood Dr for a vehicle with expired registration. A 39-year-old male was cited for driving with a suspended license, failing to comply with court orders, and driving with false registration.
 
7:00 PM Officer Heckman investigated a vehicle theft reported on Mayhews Landing Road.
 
10:13 PM Officer Heckman conducted a traffic stop near Mowry Ave & I-880 for a vehicle driving erratically and failing to stop. A 41-year-old female was arrested for driving while intoxicated. She was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
THURSDAY, JUNE 18, 2026:
 
6:30 AM Officer Germano investigated multiple vehicle burglaries reported throughout the city. Reported losses included tools.
 
9:03 AM Officer Germano conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with expired registration. A 37-year-old male was arrested for outstanding warrants. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
4:40 PM Officer Germano investigated window smash vehicle burglary reported near Newark & Cedar Blvd. A bag was taken from the rear seat of the vehicle.
 
6:07 PM Officer Heckman responded to a domestic disturbance reported near Central Ave & Byington Dr. A 66-year-old male was arrested for battery and was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
7:43 PM Officer Heckman responded to a report of a suspicious person loitering near Cedar Blvd & Forbes Dr. A 38-year-old male was arrested for commercial burglary, possession of narcotics, fleeing from arrest, and a felon in possession of pepper spray. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
FRIDAY, JUNE 19, 2026:
 
1:31 AM Officer Kim investigated a vehicle theft reported near Cedar Blvd & Joaquin Murieta Ave.
 
8:58 AM Officer Germano responded to a domestic violence incident reported near Cherry St & Thornton Ave. A 33-year-old male was arrested for battery and attempting to destroy a cell phone. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
10:01 AM Officer Benjamin investigated a vehicle burglary reported on Newpark Mall Road. Jewelry and electronics were reported taken.
 
10:17 AM Officer Johnson conducted a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle parked near Jarvis Ave & Newark Blvd. A 51-year-old female was cited for possession of narcotics.
 
11:33 AM Officer Johnson investigated a report of mail theft near Seawind Way & Hickory St. Multiple articles of mail were taken with fraudulent credit card purchases reported.
 
2:10 PM Officer Piquette responded to a hit and run collision reported near Spruce St & Braidburn Ave.
 
2:42 PM Officer Johnson investigated a vehicle theft reported near Smith Ave & Birch St.
 
SATURDAY, JUNE 20, 2026:
 
3:17 PM Traffic Officer Frentescu responded to a vehicle collision reported near Cedar Blvd & Central Ave.
 
6:44 PM Officer Orozco conducted a pedestrian stop near Thornton Ave & Cedar Blvd. A 43-year-old male was arrested for an outstanding warrant. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
11:10 PM Officer Orozco conducted a traffic stop near Thornton Ave & Cedar Blvd and cited a 49-year-old male for an outstanding warrant.
 
SUNDAY, JUNE 21, 2026:
 
3:40 AM Officer Losier conducted a security check near Baine Ave & Cherry St. Two males, a 23-year-old and 24-year-old male, were arrested for public intoxication. Both were booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
11:09 AM Officer Lomeli investigated a road rage incident reported near Cherry St & Mowry Ave.
 
1:19 PM Officer Gonzalez-Alvarez responded to a hit-and-run collision reported near Cherry St & Mayhews Landing Rd.
 
3:28 PM Officer Lor responded to an aggravated assault reported on Newpark Mall Road.
 
3:34 PM Officer Lomeli investigated a vehicle burglary reported near Spruce St & Bridgepointe Dr. Reported losses included clothing and personal items.
