INCIDENT: PC 4573(A) - Bring a Controlled Substance into a Jail/Prison
LOCATION: 9500 Etiwanda Avenue, Rancho Cucamonga
SUSPECT(S): Naum Ware, 67-year-old Male of Ontario
VICTIM(S): People of the State of California
SUMMARY: On Monday, June 9, 2026, personnel from the West Valley Detention Center (WVDC) received information that Private Investigator Naum Ware arrived at the facility with supplies to be delivered for a pro per inmate. The supplies consisted of envelopes which, upon inspection, appeared to have a coating or layer of an unidentified substance. A narcotics canine responded to inspect the envelopes and the canine alerted to the presence of narcotics. San Bernardino County Sheriff investigators recovered the items and submitted them to the Scientific Investigation Division (SID) for testing. A criminalist with SID tested an envelope which returned positive for the presence of narcotics.
On Monday, June 23, 2026, investigators with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department learned that Ware arrived with additional paperwork to visit several inmates at the West Valley Detention Center. While at the facility, Ware was contacted and detained. A narcotics canine responded to assist with a sniff of the items Ware possessed. Again, the canine alerted for the presence of narcotics and the items were seized. Ware was arrested and booked at the West Valley Detention Center for violation of Penal Code 4573(A)- Bring a Controlled Substance into a Jail/ Prison.
