Tomorrow, the Maple Shade Police Department will be involved in emergency management operations for the annual Fireworks. For this event, the area immediately above any portion of the operation, to include the fireworks display area, spectator areas, emergency personnel & equipment, and/or any other airspace reasonably considered to be within an unsafe distance of these areas, is designated as a NO DRONE ZONE for any unauthorized flights.
The Maple Shade Police Department will be utilizing agency drones during this event for puplic safety and emergency management purposes.
Unauthorized takeoff and landing of remote controlled or unmanned aircraft or drones is prohibited from any of the areas mentioned above, as well as anywhere on Maple Shade School District property.
Drone operators are reminded of FAA rules governing the operation of drones, specifically over people and/or vehicles, as well as night operations. https://www.faa.gov/uas
Federal Aviation Regulations prohibit the unsafe or unauthorized operation of an aircraft, including drones. Unsafe operations may result in substantial civil penalties and possible action against an operator's FAA-issued certificate, or may be subject to criminal response by law enforcement in accordance with Federal, State and local laws or ordinances. The Maple ShadePolice Department will utilize available resourses to track and identify unauthorized and/or otherwise unsafe drone activity.
