13th Street Roadway Improvement Project to begin next week
The City of Hoboken will begin the 13th Street Roadway Improvement Project, part of the City’s infrastructure improvement program, on Monday, June 29.
Improvements on 13th Street, between Willow Avenue and Hudson Street, will include utility upgrades, concrete curb & sidewalk replacements, tree removal of trees that have been inspected and deemed a safety concern, roadway reconstruction, and final paving.
To prevent significant long-term shutdowns of the roadway and impacts to parking, the City’s contractor, REIVAX, will work on a block-by-block basis starting with 13th Street between Park Avenue and Garden Street. Temporary No-Parking signs will be posted when necessary and will be removed when work is cancelled or delayed so that parking may resume as normal.
Work hours will generally occur Monday through Thursday, with Friday being used as a make-up day in case of inclement weather, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Work schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions, site conditions, or other unforeseen circumstances.
Anticipated work activities, traffic impacts, and traffic management for the week of June 29, between the hours of 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., between Park Avenue and Garden Street, include:
- Test pitting and utility investigation to verify the location and depth of existing underground utilities.
- Temporary lane closures and traffic pattern modifications.
- Restrictions to curbside parking.
- Temporary sidewalk detours.
- Construction noise, dust, and vibration typical of roadway improvement projects.
- Every effort will be made to minimize disruptions and maintain safe access to residences and businesses throughout construction.
