Fourth of July Limited Travel Access Plan reminder; Parking restrictions announced

Residents and visitors are reminded that the City, Hoboken Police, Hoboken Fire, and Hoboken Office of Emergency Management (OEM) have implemented a limited travel access plan for the Fourth of July.  

The plan aims to support public safety and emergency operations and was created with the support of neighboring municipalities, as well as County, State, and transportation officials. 

Starting on July 4 at 8 a.m., access will be limited into the City of Hoboken to authorized vehicles only, including residents, individuals with proof of pre-paid reserved parking in garages, business owners and those traveling to work within the city, emergency personnel, transit vehicles, and other authorized vehicles. Unauthorized vehicles will be turned away.  

Temporary No Parking  

The City will also post Temporary No Parking signs in the following locations from 4 a.m. on July 4 through 2 a.m. on July 5:  

  • Both sides of First Street between River and Washington Streets 
  • West side of River Street between First and Third Streets 
  • Both sides of Second Street between River and Washington Streets 
  • Both sides of Hudson Street between Newark and First Streets 
  • Both Sides of 16th Street between Willow and Park Avenues  
  • Both Sides of Newark Street between Sinatra Drive and River Street  
  • West side of Willow Avenue between 14th and 16th Streets 
  • Both sides of Second Street between River and Hudson Streets 
  • West side of Clinton Street between Third and Fourth Streets 
  • East side of River Street between First and Second Streets 
  • Both sides of Hudson Street between First and Second Streets 
  • West side of Sinatra Drive between First and Fourth Streets 


No parking will be allowed in the following location between 7 a.m. on July 3 and 10 p.m. on July 5:  

  • Clinton Street between Seventh and Eighth Streets 


No parking will be allowed in the following location between 8 p.m. on July 3 and 2 a.m. on July 5: 

  • Hudson Street between First and Second Streets 


Temporary No-Parking signs will be posted in restricted areas no less than 72 hours prior to the restrictions being put into place. Please make sure to look for, and abide by, all signs, or risk towing at the vehicle owner’s expense.  

Street Closures

The following streets will be closed on July 4 at 8 a.m.:  

  • Sinatra Drive from Newark Street to 11th Street 
  • Newark, First, Second, and Third Streets from River Street to Sinatra Drive. (Garage access will be maintained)  
  • 16th Street between Willow and Park Avenues 


Reserve Parking

Pre-paid reserved parking will be required on July 4th for all non-monthly customers at Garage B (28 Second St.), Garage D (215 Hudson St.), and Midtown Garage (371 Fourth St.). An all-day event rate of $55 (not including transaction fees) will apply at these three municipal garages.   

To purchase a reserved parking space, CLICK HERE. Sales will close on Thursday, July 2, at 11:59 p.m. or earlier if spaces sell out. Please note that reserved spaces are expected to sell out quickly.   

Drivers parked in all garages, including municipal and private facilities, may experience heavy delays exiting the garage in the evening after completion of the fireworks display.
