INCIDENT: Death Investigation
LOCATION: 7000 Block of Aster Ave., Yucca Valley
DECEDENT (1): John Wayne Doughty, 82-year-old, Male, Resident of Yucca Valley
DECEDENT (2): Lari Doughty 82-year-old, Female, Resident of Yucca Valley
SUMMARY: On Friday, June 26, 2026, Morongo Basin deputies responded to the 7000 block of Aster Ave., in reference to a welfare check. Upon arrival, the deputy walked around the exterior of the residence and observed the decedents, through a window, motionless. Deputies made entry into the residence and determined that both parties were deceased from apparent gunshot wounds. A firearm was found in the male decedent’s hand.
The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division – Homicide Detail responded and assumed the investigation. Detectives determined that John shot Lari before killing himself, in an apparent joint suicide pact.
