Alert

Cooling Center open Tuesday through Thursday at the Resiliency Center, 710 Hermann Rd. 8:30 a.m. – 4 p.m.

The Township of North Brunswick will be opening a Cooling Center (NORTH BRUNSWICK RESIDENTS ONLY) at the North Brunswick Community Resiliency Center, 710 Hermann Road from Tuesday, June 30 through Thursday, July 2 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

An Extreme Heat Watch is in effect from Wednesday afternoon through Saturday evening. Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 110 degrees are possible during the daytime hours. The combination of very hot and humid conditions (near record breaking) for multiple consecutive days can result in heat related illnesses, especially for the elderly and the young.

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Also, young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes. Always LOOK before you LOCK!

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
