Where Fireworks May Be Used
Safe and Sane fireworks may only be used with the property owner's permission and must be discharged at least 20 feet away from any residence or structure used for habitation.
Fireworks are intended for use on private property unless otherwise authorized. The use of fireworks in parks, parking lots, vacant lots, or other open areas requires the permission of the property owner. Any use in public or semi-public areas (other than public streets and sidewalks) requires written authorization from the City and, when applicable, the property owner.
Please be a good neighbor by cleaning up all fireworks debris after your celebration. Allow used fireworks to cool for at least 30 minutes—or soak them in water before placing them in a trash receptacle.
Illegal Fireworks
The City of Cloverdale maintains a zero-tolerance policy for illegal fireworks.
Only fireworks bearing the California "Safe and Sane" seal are legal for personal use. Firecrackers, Roman candles, skyrockets, aerial shells, and other fireworks without the Safe and Sane seal are prohibited.
Possessing, transporting, selling, or using illegal fireworks may result in criminal charges, fines ranging from $500 to $1,000, and possible jail time under California law.
