Rohnert Park, CA -- As America approaches its 250th anniversary, the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety encourages residents and visitors to celebrate this historic milestone in a safe, legal, and family-friendly manner. While this national celebration is an opportunity to come together with pride and community spirit, it is important to remember that all fireworks—including those labeled “safe and sane”—are illegal within the City of Rohnert Park.

Fireworks present significant safety risks, including fires, serious injuries, and property damage. These risks are heightened during the summer months when dry conditions can allow flames to spread quickly. Fireworks also negatively impact pets, veterans, young children, and individuals sensitive to loud noises, and they place an avoidable strain on emergency response resources.

“As we celebrate America's 250th anniversary, we ask our community to remember that all fireworks remain illegal in Rohnert Park,” said Fire Marshal Aaron Hall. “The safest way to enjoy the holiday is by attending organized events and leaving fireworks to the professionals. Together, we can make this a fun, memorable, and safe celebration for everyone.”

Residents are encouraged to enjoy the holiday through safe and festive alternatives, including:

• Attending professional fireworks displays in surrounding communities where permitted
• Participating in local community events and celebrations
• Hosting barbecues, picnics, and neighborhood gatherings
• Decorating homes and businesses in patriotic colors
• Enjoying music, games, and family-friendly activities

The possession, sale, use, or discharge of fireworks within Rohnert Park is strictly prohibited. Violations may result in citations, fines, and incarceration.

If you witness illegal fireworks activity, please report it through the non-emergency line at (707) 584-2600. Please use 9-1-1 only for true emergencies, such as active fires or situations where someone is injured or in immediate danger.

limited if responders are unable to locate the source of the activity, so detailed information greatly assists in follow-up efforts.
