Extreme Heat Warning 
EXTREME HEAT WARNING – ACTION RECOMMENDED
The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Warning for our region.
Effective Period:
Noon Wednesday through 8:00 PM Saturday
Affected Areas:
New Jersey: Our area
Hazard Details
Dangerously hot conditions are expected with heat index values between 100°F and 110°F each day.
Very warm overnight lows in the low to mid 70s will provide little relief.
The most intense heat is expected Thursday and Friday
Prolonged, near record-breaking temperatures will increase health risks.
Impacts
Heat-related illnesses are expected to increase significantly during this period of extreme heat and humidity. Heat stroke can become life-threatening very quickly.
Precautionary Actions
Please take the following steps to stay safe:
Drink plenty of fluids
Stay in air-conditioned spaces when possible
Avoid prolonged sun exposure
Limit strenuous outdoor activity to early morning or evening hours
Wear lightweight, loose-fitting clothing
Check on elderly neighbors, family members, and others who may be vulnerable
Never leave children or pets in vehicles. Interior temperatures can become deadly within minutes.
For Outdoor Workers
OSHA recommends:
Frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas
Immediate action if symptoms of heat exhaustion or heat stroke appear
Anyone showing signs of heat stroke should be moved to a cool area immediately and 911 should be called without delay.

If you do not have access to air conditioning or need shelter from the heat, please call 211 or visit your county/state health department website for available cooling centers and resources.
